A Sensoria Research Initiative
Psychonaut Certification

Become a Certified Psychonaut

Train as a calibrated observer.

A program in phenomenological reporting, state navigation, and consciousness-data protocols, for the sovereign explorers whose reports are precise enough to advance the science. Certified Psychonauts are the calibrated observers that make the work possible.

Why Certify

Mind explorers deserve the same rigor.

Astronauts train rigorously for their missions. Deep-sea divers earn accreditation. Mind explorers have had no comparable path of preparation, support, or recognition.

The Psychonaut Certification program is closing that gap. It is built for the people who will produce the data that makes consciousness science possible: people trained to report what they experienced with the precision the field has been missing.

The Full Loop of Value

What you'll learn, gain, and do

Learning alone isn't enough. The program is designed so every participant gains real skills, joins a real community, and contributes to real research. All three matter.

What You'll Learn

Master the science of inner observation

Phenomenological reporting. Structured methods for describing conscious experience with precision.
State navigation. Techniques for intentionally moving between and within conscious states.
Integration practices. Frameworks for processing and applying insight from altered states.
Data contribution protocols. How to produce research-grade first-person reports.
Harm reduction and responsible exploration.
What You'll Gain

A credential, a community, and a seat at the work

A Certified Psychonaut credential, recognized across the Sensoria ecosystem.
Priority invitations to Sensoria events and retreats.
Early access to new tools as they ship.
Membership in the global node network: peer support across 12+ time zones, local chapters, and people who have been assessed and can be trusted in vulnerable states.
A standing invitation to contribute to published research.
What You'll Do

Help build the map of human consciousness

Contribute calibrated phenomenological data to the Neurophenomenological State Space.
Participate in characterization salons and research protocols.
Optionally lead or co-lead a local node.
Contribute to the wider knowledge base, not as a passive subject but as a trained researcher.

The Framework

A tiered path from new explorer to advanced practitioner

The certification framework recognizes that psychonautic practice spans novice through advanced. Each tier reflects genuine depth, with clear gates between levels.

A Sensoria dome gathering, an experience for all levels: a diverse community under a projection-mapped geodesic dome, with the founders woven into the mix as owl, raven, and duck characters. The owl gives a talk to a seated circle, the raven facilitates a participant reclining calmly, others explore an immersive station and a relaxed lounge.

Basic Experience

Some intentional experience and a working safety vocabulary. This is where the Certified Psychonaut credential begins.

T2
Intermediate

Developed Practice

Documented competency in structured settings. Unlocks peer-support roles and advanced research participation.

T3
Advanced

Expert

Proven competency navigating and supporting others. Unlocks facilitation, chapter leadership, and research collaboration.

The Methodology

State/Trait Engineering

From transient state to lasting trait.

Underneath the curriculum is a methodology that frames everything we teach. State/trait engineering is the discipline of designing conscious experiences with the transition from state to trait in mind, rather than treating the experience and its lasting effects as separate problems.

Trainees learn to think about state, trait, and context together: the lightest sufficient intervention to reach the target state, and the conditions that allow what surfaces there to take hold afterward. This is what separates a structured research practice from a one-off altered experience.

Sovereignty

Your data stays yours.

Your assessment results and documented experiences live in your sovereign vault. You decide what to share, with the network, with researchers, with anyone, and you can revoke consent anytime.

We use compute-to-vault architecture: the analysis comes to your data, not the other way around. Sovereignty isn't a buzzword here. It's the architecture.

FAQ

What you're probably wondering

Membership is $1,000/year, or $100/month, once you're accepted. That includes the full GPCA-120 assessment, your personal insights dashboard, the node network, and event eligibility with priority booking. One Sensoria experience at member pricing typically saves you more than the annual fee.
Sensoria doesn't provide substances or facilitate illegal activities. We provide assessment, training, community, and documentation tools for people who explore consciousness through any modality: meditation, breathwork, legal compounds, clinical research participation. What you do with your certification is your choice and responsibility.
Zendo trains volunteers for crisis support at festivals, and we respect that work deeply. Sensoria is broader: we certify practitioners for ongoing exploration practice and research, not just harm reduction at one event. Same care ethic, wider scope, continuous development.
